Musical Theatre and Performance – This course introduces students to the art and culture of musical theatre. It covers the fundamentals of what musical theatre is, its historical evolution, and the anatomy of a production. Students will explore global theatre hubs, local theatre communities, and the overall experience of attending performances. Through interactive activities, students will develop an appreciation for the craft, gain knowledge of the industry’s structure, and understand the cultural significance of musicals. The semester emphasizes observation, analysis, and participation in musical theatre culture. By the end, students will have a strong foundation to further explore performance and production in the next semester.
